Weems Mobile Mammography Postponed
A mobile mammogram bus originally scheduled for Monday, March 30 will be postponed according to hospital officials.
When it is rescheduled, the mammogram service will be available to all women and men in the community, with or without insurance. Those persons without insurance may receive a mammogram free of charge, thanks to funding provided by the Franklin’s Need organization. All persons wishing to receive a mammogram must have a doctor’s order for the testing and all persons will need to bring their order with them, along with an insurance card (if available) and photo ID. The service will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
The mobile mammogram bus service is provided by Tech Care Xray. The bus is equipped with a CAD (Computer Aided Detection) Digital Mammography Machine that uses direct capture imaging so the images are available within seconds after being taken.
Weems officials say the entire community is invited to participate. “This is for men as well as women,” says Susie Buskirk, Weems Medical Center Practice manager. “Breast Cancer affects everyone. The bus is coming to our community to save that long drive and the need to look for transportation.”
Anyone interested in setting up an appointment may contact Weems Medical Center West at 850-653-1525 to schedule a mammogram.
