Foundation

The George E. Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation was formed in 2009 by Gayle Dodds, Curt Blair, and Charles Colvert.  The primary purpose of the George E. Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation is to provide charitable, medical, scientific, educational and research aid in the form of property and services to George E. Weems Memorial Hospital, its subsidiaries, departments, and affiliates.  The Foundation strives to promote the general health of the public and to support the health care system of Franklin County through the George E. Weems Memorial Hospital, the Weems Ambulance Service and the Weems Clinics.  Members of the Foundation's Board of Trustees are community leaders charged with policy and oversight to manage the Foundation's assets, distribute funds to WMH, encourage community involvement and promote community health.

The George E. Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation is a Florida not-for-profit corporation, organized under Chapter 617 of the Florida Statutes, and is licensed by the State of Florida as a charitable organization.  It is designated as a public charity under the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and exempt from federal income tax.  Contributions to the Foundation are deductible by donors and/or their estates for federal income, gift and estate tax purposes.

GRATEFUL PATIENT PROGRAM

If you or a loved one has ever been a patient at George E. Weems Memorial Hospital, you may have encountered a doctor, nurse, technician or volunteer who brought you great comfort and reassurance in a time of need. Many patients express their gratitude for their care through their kind words, smiles and letters of thanks. Hearing the words “thank you” from a patient is more meaningful to a caregiver than most people think.

The George E. Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation now provides patients with another way to say “thank you” to a caregiver who may have made a difference in their lives. By honoring a caregiver who “went the extra mile” to care for you or a loved one, you will be making a tangible and meaningful impact on our ability to provide the absolute best in patient care to all who need it.

Gifts received through the Foundation may pay tribute to a caregiver who has enriched your life while also helping to provide essential resources for a healthier tomorrow – for you, for your family and for the communities we serve.

When a gift is made, the person whom you are honoring will be sent an acknowledgement letter expressing your thanks. The gift amount will be kept confidential, but the feeling of accomplishment will be felt for years to come.
